ARIA Tips

We get a lot of Google searchers coming to our site, for the search term “Karaoke on a mac”. I wanted to take a minute and tell everyone about the ARIA all-in-one entertainment software product.

ARIA all-on-one, offers karaoke on a MAC, and much more. It is in fact the next entertainment revolution people who fell in love with iTunes are looking for. iTunes is a great way to purchase and organize media, not just on your mac, but across your mobile devices as well. However when it comes to a player, it is still pretty basic.

If you are looking for a player that does more, like play karaoke files with the lyrics, then look no further then ARIA all-in-one.

ARIA let’s you play karaoke files with the lyrics, and has dual screen support so that you can have the lyrics on a second screen. ARIA also has a built in karaoke song store. All of our apps in fact have this feature. There is a record capability that allows you to record your vocal performance on top of the music, making it easy to sing and share your karaoke performance.

In addition to karaoke support ARIA all-in-one also features a DJ/VJ mode that makes it easy to set up a play list of music or video files. You have a full featured mixer that allows you to sync beats, and adjust the high, mid and low frequencies, so you can produce a way better DJ style music mix, then iTunes alone.

So if you are looking to do more with your media, check out ARIA all-in-one, whether you are simply looking for karaoke on a mac, or a fun and easy to use audio and video mixing program, ARIA has a little something for everyone.

We get a lot of questions about which microphones to use with ARIA, or how to use the mic you already have with ARIA.

What is all boils down to is the following three categories:

1. USB mics
2. Regular mics
3. Adaptors

There are several USB mic options on the marketplace. We are evaluating several right now.

For starters CAD Audio has a $39 mic kit including the stand and it’s decent quality, but upon testing only worked with ARIA on a PC.

We have tested and approve the karaoke locker kit, but they are getting harder to find. It features two mics, connected to a USB audio box which then goes to your computer.

At the office I use an Audio Technica mic the MB1K with an adaptor.

The icicle adaptor from blue microphones works with ARIA on both mac and PC. The adaptor takes  your xlr mic to usb via a perfectly sized cable. This is a great package as it includes a volume knob, the cable, and lets you work with what you have.

We are testing many more mics for use with ARIA, but for mobile karaoke so far Apple leads in this space and IK Multimedia created the iRig which we can definitely recommend to anyone looking for a mic solution for their iPhone or iPad. We tested and love it with ARIA as seen in this video!

If you can recommend any mics that would work for karaoke, holding in your hand and singing that you personally recommend for our software, please let us know! As we test more mics we will update our list of approved mics.

Want to rip your karaoke CD’s to use them in ARIA, on a PC?
Then you need Audio Grabber, the free ripping software.

Download Audio Grabber here.

Here is a link to the proper settings to use to rip to mp3+G

Note: This is for windows machines only!

ARIA karaoke CD + G ripping.

This blog post is about converting a karaoke CD, to files that can be stored on a computer, or external hard drive and used with Aria software, (karaoke mode).

NOTE: As of Aria build 1.1 there is no built in karaoke ripping feature, and Aria does not play CD+G discs from the CD drive.

Are you trying to convert a karaoke CD+G disc? Many Aria customers use Audiograbber – which will convert a standard karaoke CDG into an MP3+G, which you can then play in ARIA. You can download Audiograbber here (it’s free!):

And here are instructions on what settings to use.

Please note that Audiograbber, is a PC or windows only application.

If you use Aria on a Mac, you should consider using the built in Karaoke Locker song store to purchase karaoke songs that are already “ripped” and ready to play in Aria.

Most CD drives don’t support the function of ripping the + G or graphical component of a file from a karaoke CD, so in most cases you need to use an external drive and the whole process gets messy and time consuming.

Aria Tips:

Price of in-app karaoke track purchases.

Hello Aria customers.
The cost of an Aria in-app karaoke song purchase, for the all in one, or full version of Aria is $1.49 US dollars.

The cost for an in-app purchase for Andorid and iPhone mobile karaoke purchases is $1.99 US dollars.

Aria full version will allow import of CD+G, Wav+G, and .ZIP files. (Karaoke), as well as most other audio and video file types.

We had a customer ask this question recently: “Can Aria work with an iPod?”

Well as a matter of fact ARIA is available in the karaoke only version for iPod! You can purchase it from itunes just like you would on an iPhone!

However, this is not the specific question!

After a few emails we drilled a little deeper to find out exactly what was wanted. It turns out the question was, can ARIA play music off of an iPod?

YES! if you have the settings right.

I have my iPod set up to use as a file sharing device, and my iPod is registered as a MAC recognized device. This is the only thing you need to watch out for. When you buy an iPod and format you must choose mac or pc. This feature will only work on the same format. I have ARIA on both MAC and PC, but my iPod is set up for MAC, so this feature of being able to play music off of it, only works on my MAC!

This is a great tip, for ARIA DJ mode.
What is something ARIA can do, that your media player cant?

You know how you get a DJ mix zipped up from your favorite artists, and it’s the individual tracks?
Load all of these files as a play list in ARIA and then do an auto mix, and record it. You will record the mix as the DJ intended, and then can burn it to CD!

If you simply load these files into iTunes or Windows Media player, you will have dead space between the tracks, and who wants this, especially when you want a hype mix to keep you going through the day!

A helpful tip for ARIA mobile Karaoke for the Android platform:

Aria Mobile Karaoke for the Android platform uses Pay Pal for the payment system. This means whenever you want to buy a new Karaoke track from the built in store, you need to have a valid, verified Pay Pal account!
