We get a lot of questions about which microphones to use with ARIA, or how to use the mic you already have with ARIA.
What is all boils down to is the following three categories:
1. USB mics
2. Regular mics
3. Adaptors
There are several USB mic options on the marketplace. We are evaluating several right now.
For starters CAD Audio has a $39 mic kit including the stand and it’s decent quality, but upon testing only worked with ARIA on a PC.
We have tested and approve the karaoke locker kit, but they are getting harder to find. It features two mics, connected to a USB audio box which then goes to your computer.
At the office I use an Audio Technica mic the MB1K with an adaptor.
The icicle adaptor from blue microphones works with ARIA on both mac and PC. The adaptor takes your xlr mic to usb via a perfectly sized cable. This is a great package as it includes a volume knob, the cable, and lets you work with what you have.
We are testing many more mics for use with ARIA, but for mobile karaoke so far Apple leads in this space and IK Multimedia created the iRig which we can definitely recommend to anyone looking for a mic solution for their iPhone or iPad. We tested and love it with ARIA as seen in this video!
If you can recommend any mics that would work for karaoke, holding in your hand and singing that you personally recommend for our software, please let us know! As we test more mics we will update our list of approved mics.
